This is a larger mix of homemade taco seasoning. Besides tacos, I’ve used this to flavor soups.
-3/4 cup dried minced onion (I also have used 1/4 cup of onion powder)
-3 TBS of salt (original recipe called for significantly more and I lowered it to this)
-1/4 cup of chili powder
-1 TBS oregano
-2 TBS of ground cumin
-1 TBS garlic powder
-2 TBS of cornstarch
Mix all the ingredients together and store in an airtight container.
Brown hamburger meat or use diced leftover chicken (my boys LOVE chicken-based tacos!) or turkey burger and add 2 TBS of the mix with 1/2 cup of water and cook a moment longer until taco sauce thickens up. Add additional mix for larger batches.
2 teaspoons instant minced onion
1 teaspoon chili powder
1/2 teaspoon cornstarch
1/2 teaspoon crushed dried red pepper
1/2 teaspoon instant minced garlic
1/4 teaspoon dried oregano leaves
Combine all ingredients. Place on a six inch square of aluminum foil and fold to seal edges. Just repeat recipe to make more Packages. One recipe is enough seasoning for one pound of hamburger. Because all of the ingredients are dry, you can store the mix packages on your kitchen shelf.
When you are ready to make tacos, brown one pound of hamburger with the taco mix. add to four warm taco shells that are each filled with shredded lettuce and a couple of tomato slices. Sprinkle grated cheese on the top of the meat in each taco shell.
