We are all feeling the pinch, whether it is at the gas pumps, in the retail shops, or just paying bills at home. It starts out slowly and then as we are paying the bills we realize the money is just not going quite as far as it used to. It is going to take more than creative resourcefulness to get through this pinch. It is going to take a “full court press”, as I call it in my family to get the job done. We are currently installing an outdoor shower, with a solar hot water heater for the outside shower and the house. We live near the beach so the outdoor shower makes sense for us, but it also gave us a place to put our homemade solar panel on top of and it had to look good (not unsightly). We are in the process of installing rain barrels this year, and we are trying to plant food on every corner of our porch, however we are limited for space right now. I think every day what can I do that would make me a renegade at Frugality. At Frugal Families we call it guerilla frugality, you know the kind of frugality where you will go to extremes to get the job done. In this economy people should be proud of recycling, reselling, reusing, the three R’s we need right now! I compost, recycle (most of the time), I take fast showers but none of these things make me a renegade…….I think a renegade hangs their clothes out everyday without fail, which I do in the summer but I haven’t done lately. A renegade keeps their ac off and their heat off as long as possible which I do! A renegade takes lemons and turns them into lemonade (I didn’t intend for that to rhyme ;) …) I am going to come up with some renegade ideas to help us navigate through this financial instability and post them soon. What do you do to be a frugal renegade?
