I have been racking my brain to share something new with you maybe something you haven’t tried and maybe even something I haven’t tried. The key though to being a renegade at frugality is being consistent so I realized something new for me would be to become more consistent at being a frugal renegade. So first I will post the items I am new to becoming consistently diligent at, and then I will post the items I am already a frugal renegade by doing and give myself a pat on the back….

(These are mostly in the beginning or research phase)

I am hanging out clothes daily now and if I am real busy because I work full time and go to school part time I will take clothes and towels and drape them over the deck. I am working on a system for the garage but it is still in process. (This just started so in the past I would have been very impressed if this kept up now I am thinking this has to be the new normal)

My husband and I are looking into buying some of our food provisions in bulk and baking more from scratch something that in our case might involve involvement from the whole family because of my hours. This will include making more snack food from scratch again.

We are continually looking into green house gardening, and finding inexpensive sources of local food.

I am still waiting for the solar hot water heater to be completely finished so until then I will post no more on that subject.

My son has started wrestling and their are several out of town meets (we are looking for other families to carpool and share gas to go to the meets.) This is new for us!

This is what we are already doing and have been doing consistently:

My daughter cuts her own hair and colors it, I go to the hair dresser but I think my trips will start being less frequent. I am fortunate though because I have found someone who charges about half of traditional salons. My son and husband have found a place for $7.99 a haircut and both of them are pleased with the results.

We all pack our lunches everyday.

We continue to use electricity at a minimum.

We are continuing to recycle.

We collect copper and cash it in.

We collect aluminum and cash it in.

We cut coupons (yes the whole family jumps in at times)….and comparison shop.

I have cancelled the newspaper.

I have consolidated and reviewed our phone and cable bills.

I am also reviewing some of our medical suppliers and cutting down on doctor trips as I am able.

Coming up soon! Part three and continuation of this blog…..
