When I was growing up even more so than now the Super Bowl was a huge deal in our house.  As soon as Subway started selling those 6 foot subs Mom had to go buy a huge expensive submarine sandwich.  As I grew up me and my husband would always pile up on chips, dips, beer, wings, and sodas all armed for the big day.  First of all consider your guest list….are they beer drinkers if they are don’t stock up on wine and soda.  Also do you really have to provide all of the beer there is nothing wrong with saying BYOB or even to have people each bring a dish for that matter but lets just say you really want to treat your friends to a nice relaxing evening where all they have to do is bring themselves.

First I would look for 2 liters on sale when they go their lowest price I prefer name brand soda when I have company but its even better if you have a coupon.  Second of all look for a really good price on beer and then stock up.  One thing that a lot of people don’t pay attention to is the fact that chicken wings are way overpriced!!  Ridiculously overpriced.  Buy chicken breasts in bulk if you have the room and put them in the freezer and on the day of the big game chop them up into chunks and make chicken tenders.  Then whip up some ranch dressing which I know one of our Frugal Friends at Frugal Families has posted a homemade ranch dressing dip recipe that is incredible!  Also eggs are inexpensive make some deviled eggs I have never been to a party where I saw a deviled egg tray full.  One of my families favorite recipes is my homemade sausage cheese biscuits that are all rolled in together.  And lastly put out some tortillas and some sausage cheese dip.  If you are only having two or three couples over I would not even bother buying paper cups and plates but if you do instead of purchasing them at your grocery store go to your local dollar store and buy them there they are much more inexpensive.  Don’t buy a bunch of paper decorations just put a tablecloth on the table and light a candle or two to make the house smell good.  People are there to be with you and watch the game not to assess your decor.

You can have a fabulous Super Bowl party where everyone will be able to relax and enjoy themselves and even better keep some dollars in your wallet.  Have fun and cheer for your favorite team and I don’t dare mention mine.
