Chewy Granola Bars

1/2 c. butter or margarine, softened
1 c. packed brown sugar
1/4 c. sugar
2 T. honey
1/2 t. vanilla extract
1 egg
1 c. flour
1 t. cinnamon
1/2 t. baking powder
1/4 t. salt
1 1/2 c. quick cooking oats
1 1/4 c. crisp rice cereal (rice krispies)
1 c. chopped nuts
1 c. raisins or chocolate chips, optional (I used the chocolate chips)

In a mixing bowl, cream butter and sugars. Add honey, vanilla and egg; mix well. Combine dry ingredients; add to creamed mixture. Stir in oats, cereal, and nuts. Add raisins or chocolate chips if desired. Press into a greased 13x9 inch pan. Bake at 350 for 25-30 minutes or until top is slightly browned. Yield 2 dozen.
